About Me

I am a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN), Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS), Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and health and wellness coach specializing in helping people make peace with food and their body. I take a holistic approach to help individuals learn to re-nourish their body, finally stop dieting & obsessing about food, and actually enjoy moving their bodies. A large part of my work involves helping individuals re-connect to joyful movement, and learn to experience the pleasures and satisfaction of eating again by honoring their inner intuitive eater.

ROCK BOTTOM: WHERE IT ALL STARTED

Growing up on the standard American diet (AKA “SAD” diet) and listening to messages from mainstream media on how to look and what to eat left me feeling overwhelmed & stressed around food throughout my teens. I struggled with weight fluctuations, low self confidence, body image disturbances, an eating disorder, and irritable bowel syndrome (which included pretty severe bloating and constipation). I spent too much of my precious time and energy worrying about how my body looked, counting calories, and depriving myself of the foods that I enjoyed. Thinking about food constantly and how much I hated my body was EXHAUSTING. Eating became a chore. I never felt satisfied after eating, nor did I enjoy eating.

THE VICIOUS CYCLE

My negative relationship with food and my body affected not only the quality of my day to day life, but also my relationships with family and friends. This impacted every aspect of my life in a negative way, and led me further away from my true, authentic self.

I knew that I had to do something about the way I was feeling. Life is too darn short!

RE-NOURISHING MY BODY & LIFE

I obtained two degrees in nutrition and realized along the way that food is so much more than its nutrients and calorie content. I tried new recipes and slowly learned how to cook nourishing whole foods. This was something that was totally new to me after subsisting on the “SAD” diet for so many years. I finally started feeling satisfied after meals, and truly enjoyed what I was eating. My body achieved its biological, healthy weight range all on its own without the focus ever being on weight loss. What resulted was less bloating, confusion, food and body-related stress, and feelings of overwhelm. I experienced more self-confidence, happiness, and balance in my daily life. I no longer found myself wasting so much time and energy worrying about what I was eating and how my body looked.

As a result, I developed a newfound appreciation for my body, and a healthy relationship with the food that nourishes it.

Holistic Health and Well-Being

Using experiences from my own health struggles, academic coursework, and clinical training I have made it my life’s mission to help you learn to re-nourish your body and mind while actually enjoying food.
